Message So basically an NA 5 speed and a TT 5 speed will be cruising at the same RPM. So its not that far off.

Now remember your tire size also makes a diff, for example the smaller the overall size of the tire the better your gear ratio will be, the bigger the worst it will be. When you go from the factory tires to say 18s you have increased usually the overall size and affected your final gearing.

On a 300zx with 4.10 gears and 285/35R18 (like I have) at 3000 RPMS in 5th gear I am at 74.8029 mph. With the 3.69 and

Here is a quick chart
GEAR
SIZE TIRE SIZE RPM SPEED
1 4.10 285/35R18 3000 74.8029 *with leader gears
2 3.69 285/35R18 3000 83.0693 *without leader gears
3 4.08 245/45R16 3000 71.7085 *Factory for NA
4 3.69 245/45R16 3000 79.2998 *Factory for TT

As you can see at cruising speeds. With 18s you get fairly close factory.

Here is another chart
Gearset@70mph
1 2808 RPMS *18s 285/35R18 + leader gears 4.10
2 2530 RPMS *18s 285/35R18 with factory TT gears 3.692
3 2929 RPMS *16s 245/45R16 + factory NA gears 4.083
4 2649 RPMS *16s 245/45R16 + Factory TT gears 3.692

So the bottom line is with leader gears and 18s you are right in the middle of factory NA and TT gearing :-P

I noticed right away that my car woke up alot with the new gearing and have not regretted that upgrade at all. Matter of fact I have been very happy with it and wished I had done it sooner.
